Granted a Registered Trademark by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
Phonation Resistance Training Exercises (PhoRTE®) was granted a registered trademark by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on December 12, 2023. This designation legally protects the name PhoRTE®, ensuring that the public and patients can trust its authenticity and that speech-language pathologists who use it in clinical practice are applying a specific, evidence-based method with recognized standards and ownership. To avoid violating the law regarding the PhoRTE® trademark, speech-language pathologists must always use the name PhoRTE® with the registered trademark symbol (®) and must not alter the name or represent unrelated methods as PhoRTE®. They must also ensure they are using the approach consistent with its evidence-based protocols and must not use the trademark for commercial purposes (e.g., products, trainings, or workshops) without proper authorization or licensing from the trademark owners.
